In addition to our ongoing projects, R4D proactively seeks out new ideas as a key component of our work in catalyzing actions that reduce poverty and improve the quality of life in low-income countries.
We identify promising ideas with high-impact potential and link them to emerging trends, key stakeholders, industry and government leaders, and other relevant networks – to help shepherd these ideas along the path from concept to action. Our emphasis on combining analytical rigor with innovative approaches provides a strong foundation for incubating new models for social change.
Examples of current activity in the R4D incubator include:
- Identifying and engaging financial and implementation partners to create a new financial institution that helps to safely catalyze the financial power of emerging world pension funds for infrastructure, microfinance/SME, health care, education, and other development projects
- Engaging public and private sector partners in launching a new program to mobilize resources at a large scale for small and medium size enterprise financing in developing countries
- Exploring the role of “unconventional aid” in international development, including multinational private sector players
- Investigating the essential levers of effective capacity-building in fragile states
